Examples of Best Practice

Here you will find various buildings certified according to the criteria of the Assessment System for Sustainable Building (BNB) and the DGNB certification. In addition to a brief description, selected results of the building evaluation are presented. The selection also includes buildings from the various pilot applications of the BNB criteria since 2009.

The building is an institute for teaching and research. It is certified as mixed use education/office, as a significant proportion of the space (around 43%) is allocated to office use.

PlusEnergy elementary school Niederheide in Hohen Neuendorf

Germany's first school planned as a PlusEnergy building is characterized by a highly thermally insulated building envelope, heat-storing solid components and energy-efficient ventilation technology. The concept is based on minimizing the energy requirements for the building and the technical systems on the one hand and on the planned use of locally available, renewable energy sources on the other.

The Schmuttertal-Gymnasium was implemented as a research building project with funding from the government of Swabia and the DBU as a PlusEnergy building and DGNB CLimate Positive 2020.
